Introduction
Adversity, violence, neglect, abuse and family conflict represent vulnerabilities which can undermine child development (Britto et al., 2017). Information provided throughout this course has illustrated the prevalence, as well as the detrimental effects of trauma and victimisation on childhood outcomes. It is essential that protective factors, that nurture child mental wellbeing and resilience, are promoted in children’s environments, including in schools and the classroom (WHO, 2018). The purpose of this module is to help educators recognise the potential positive impact of resilience promotion and trauma-sensitive approaches to education in the classroom.
